THE GODDESS GARDEN ATLANTA IS AN URBAN WILDERNESS HABITAT :
Shasta Zaring has created and cultivated this one-acre piece of land using this unique brand of gardening. The purpose of urban wilderness gardening is to create wilderness habitat for the wildlife that finds food, water and safety within the city. No pesticides or herbicides are used anywhere in the Goddess Garden Atlanta. The GGA is an Audobon Society certified backyard habitat.
" A good pair of scissors, patience and willingness to work with nature is all you need." says Zaring of her gardening style.
This eco-friendly, non-invasive method of gardening works with the existing Georgia habitat and species such as Kudzu, english ivy, privet, poke weed and wild edibles like dandalion.
The Goddess Garden was entirely covered with kudzu when Zaring started cultivating the land some 11 years ago. The original garden was just outside of the house what is now Grandmother's Garden.
This private preserve is comprised of 3 levels and is located just off of the newly developed City of Atlanta's BeltLine Project. The Goddess Garden Atlanta is located just north of the Angier Springs Station.
